LESSONS AND COURSES

ACTIVITIES

Beginner Courses include an introduction to the rigid heddle weaving loom and its basic functioning, how to plan a project, prepare the warp, dress the loom, and begin to weave. The course will introduce some basic notions about plain weave and its possibilities. Each student in the short introductory course will take home a sample of their own weaving. In the longer version, the student will produce their own finished project.

Short beginner course: 5 hours divided by lunch break. €125, materials included). Students take home a sample

3-day beginner course weaving immersion: 15 hours including laboratory time, €225, materials included. Students take home a finished project.

Level 2 beginner/intermediate courses: Short and 3-day versions as above. In Level 2, the students will be introduced to additional techniques for the rigid heddle loom such as clasped weft, pattern pick up, finger-controlled weaves, and pick-up techniques for creating floats. The number of these techniques covered depends on the length of the course chosen.

Level 2 intermediate. The multi-shaft loom.

Short course. 7 hours divided by a lunch break, or broken into two days, depending on student preference. €175. This course offers an introduction to the 4-shaft table loom and its basic functioning. Advanced courses or private lessons . On 4-8 shafts there are innumerable possibilities and dozens of weave structures. Students who wish to study a particular weave structure or design and execute a complex project are invited to email their request.
